Stephanie - Veterinarian

My name is Stephanie.

From a young age I knew that my life would revolve around animals and the passion to help them. As a child I already rescued birds and devoured books on anatomy and biology in the library, determined to make this my profession later.

After a lottery at the age of 17 I left for Antwerp, to eventually complete my studies in Ghent in 2011. After a period of wildlife adventures in South Africa my professional journey began in clinics in Amsterdam, Aerdenhout and Bennebroek. After 10 years of employment I decided to continue as an independent veterinarian.

In my search for variety and challenge I ended up at Dierenkliniek Duivendrecht for a maternity leave, and I have continued to step in ever since and never really left this pleasantly busy clinic.

My daily tasks are very diverse; ranging from operations, dental treatments, laboratory work, to making ultrasounds and x-rays, and of course consultations with animal owners. The versatility keeps me sharp, but also makes the profession challenging. In addition to primary veterinary medicine, in recent years I have focused on imaging, dentistry, dermatology and laparoscopy.

What I like most about my work is the constant variety and the opportunity to continue to develop myself. The contact with animal owners and colleagues is invaluable to me. No animal or owner is the same, and I enjoy finding the right solutions together.

Collaboration with my team is important to me. At Dierenkliniek Duivendrecht we think the same way as a team. We are transparent about costs, give love and personal attention to every patient and owner, and we continuously learn from each other. Everyone has their own specialities, which means we complement each other perfectly. And let’s not forget, a healthy dose of humor and conviviality are essential for a well-functioning clinic!
