Dentistry
METHOD
Duivendrecht Veterinary Clinic uses a dental unit, which means that your pet’s teeth are treated with equipment similar to that of your dentist.
This ensures that the teeth can be treated with great care and precision. Using an ultrasonic scaler, plaque and tartar can be removed quickly.
Because we work with a dental unit and with gas anesthesia, your animal does not have to be under anesthesia for a long time for dental treatment, because our patients receive a low dose of anesthetic after which it is maintained with gas anesthesia. However, the resources must be almost completely exhausted before you can take your pet home.
Recently, X-rays can also be made of your dog, cat or rabbit. We call this Dental X-ray. In this way we can estimate even better what is needed for your animal.
MEDICATION
Your dog or cat will receive a pain-relieving injection from the vet before treatment if teeth or molars need to be extracted.
If teeth or molars have been pulled or the teeth are very inflamed, antibiotics should be given in the days after the dental treatment in combination with pain relief/anti-inflammatory medication.
